The Castro video made me relent a little bit on my annoyance with everyone talking about how fantastic Second Life it. Perhaps my annoyance has more to do with the game’s lack of cool wizards and elves than it does with any actual fault of the game. :-) I can see how something like this would be educational - students getting to act out a battle in-game instead of just reading that it happened. Of course, I think it would be even more fun to do a reenactment outside and have someone video the whole thing …

Gaming and virtual reality is very interesting. Unfortunately, I could not go to the symposium so it was good to have a report by someone who was able to. It is confusing and seems so difficult. In all honesty, gaming seems difficult to produce, but implementing is different. If you have something that is well constructed and lines up with the curriculum, you will have no problem implementing it. Using it for problem-solving is one of the best ways I see for it. I do however think that there should not be any type of violence when it comes to gaming in schools.
